For a business that consumes 1000 kWh (unit) per day from the #grid, there would be a need for approximately a 350kWp solar PV system and 800-900kWh battery storage to meet their entire power demand. This may not be a financially feasible solution due to the cost of battery, which can go as high as 200% of the solar PV system cost. Alternatively, businesses can combine reduced battery size with solar PV as a solution for #loadshedding, and save on peak power prices. For South African businesses, this solution becomes even more lucrative in light of the power supply related challenges.
